RCM V3 – Drums Installation

Getting Started

Woohoo! You have just received your RetroCultMods V3 Adapter and now it’s time to install it!

You will need the following:

  • A computer
  • RetroCultMods V3 Adapter
  • USB C Cable that supports transfer of data & power
    • Use the one that you bought with the V3 adapter!
  • A compatible drum kit… see below!

Drum Preset Setup

Before we can use the RetroCultMods V3 Adapter with a drum kit, we must first install the drum preset using the RCM Programming Tool.

  1. Open the RCM Programming Tool, click “Configure”.
  1. You will be taken to a menu that has presets on the left side of the window. Change the Preset to “V3 Adapter – RB Drums” or “V3 Adapter – GH Drums”, depending on which game you’re playing. Click Load Preset.
  1. Make sure to fully let the preset install before you close the program. This may take upwards of two minutes. There will be a few indicators when it’s done:
    • At the bottom of the window, it’ll have 100% and “Status: Done”
    • The “Wii Extension Inputs” will display Guitar Hero drum inputs and “Usb Host Inputs” will display Rock Band drum inputs.
  2. Onto installation!

Installation

  1. Determine and install whichever preset you need, instructions are above.
  2. Depending on which drum kit you have, you will have different ways of installing the V3 adapter.
  • For the Guitar Hero Wii drums, you will be able to plug the kit into the adapter with the Wii connector. Pictured below:
  • For the Guitar Hero drum kits for Xbox and Playstation, you will have to plug in the USB Dongles included in the drum kits to the USB-A port, on the front of the V3 adapter.
  • For the Rock Band drums, you will have to plug the kits in through the USB-A port, on the front of the V3 Adapter. Plug in either the cable from the wired Rock Band drums into the adapter or the dongle for the wireless kits!

This is the USB-A port on the V3 Adapter:

  1. Plug in a USB-C cable into the V3 Adapter. The smaller USB-C end will go into the V3 Adapter, while the USB-A end will go into your console/PC.
  1. Plug the other end of the USB cable into your platform of choice!
  2. *If needed, configure your game to support your drums. Click here to go to the per-platform config support!
