Revival – RPCS3 on Mac (RB ONLY)

Playing with your Revived Guitar on RPCS3 is a great time! Rock Band games have 100% perfect support. However, things take a turn regarding Guitar Hero games. They do not support “Passthrough”, which is what lets us play Rock Band games so seamlessly.

So what does that mean? It means we cannot play Guitar Hero games using RPCS3 on Mac. We’ve exhausted all methods available at this time to get it working, but unfortunately none have worked properly.

That being said, scroll down to set up Rock Band on RPCS3!

Rock Band Games

Rock Band games for the PS3 support a feature in RPCS3 called “Passthrough”. This allows the guitar to ‘just work’ with Rock Band games. Neat, right?
You will see that we use screenshots from the Windows version of RPCS3. It is the same exact process.

  1. Download and open the RCM Programming Tool.
  2. Plug in your Revived Guitar, making sure to not hold any buttons.
  3. Open the RCM Programming Tool, then click “Configure”.
    You will be taken to a menu that has presets on the left side of the window.
  1. Change the preset to “Revival Kit v1 – PS2/Wii/Emulation“.
    Click Load Preset.
  1. You will have to calibrate (or recalibrate) your Tilt and Whammy.
  1. Click Save Settings. Do not touch the guitar during this process.
    You will know it’s done whenever the status at bottom says done and the Save Settings button is no longer yellow.
    Once you’ve verified that it has saved, press the frets and you’ll see them light up in real life as well as in the RCM Programming Tool.
    You can now close the Programming Tool.
  1. Install RPCS3. Get your games.

  1. Open RPCS3 and navigate to the Pads menu.
  1. Set the player handlers to Null and then click Save.
    With Passthrough, our Revived Guitars will interface with RPCS3 as a native controller which we do not have to map. It will just work!
  1. Our Revived Guitars are now set up to play. Boot into a Rock Band game and it will just work! Like magic. Have fun!
